Stretch marks are a form of scarring generally
associated with pregnancy, obesity,
bodybuilding, puberty, and intense physical
activity. They result from over stretching of the
skin, which disrupts the normal production of
collagen, causing a scar.

It is thought that at least 90% of pregnant
women, 70% of adolescent females, and 40% of
adolescent males develop stretch marks.
Despite, stretch marks being quite common
among the general population, the factors that
lead its development are still poorly understood.

Stretch Marks are tiny tears in the elastic tissue
lying underneath the skin. Stretch marks are
usually pink to purplish in color and tend to fade
over time.
