- No wave or curl pattern
- Tendency to be oily and shiny
- Resistant to curling and styling
- Resilient and less prone to
damage

- Lies somewhere between straight and curly hair
- Elongated S shape
- Less shiny and oily than type 1 hair
- Prone to frizz

This hair has no wave or curl pattern whatsoever. It also tends to be
the shiniest & oiliest because oil from the scalp travels down the hair

This type tends to be coarse with a clear "S" shape to it. Not to be confused with curly hair.
This type has a defined loopy "S" pattern. It doesn't shine as much as wavy hair, but it has a lot more
natural body. When wet it straightens out easily. As it dries though it reverts to its curly state.

These type of hair is very wiry, tightly coiled and fragile. The coil/curl diameter can vary from a pencil to
a watch spring. This hair type is naturally drier than all the other hair types because the twists & turns in
the hair strands make it difficult for the scalp sebum to reach the ends.
