Brush.
Never use a brush on naturally curly hair. If you must brush the hair use a paddle or boar bristle
brush.
Comb.
Use a wide tooth comb while hair is damp with conditioner. Do not comb hair while dripping wet as this
may cause hair breakage.
Drying.
It is best to let curly hair dry naturally - without heat. This helps retain curl integrity and moisture. If
you must blow dry, use a blow dryer with a diffuser.
Finger Comb.
Style naturally curly hair by gently running the fingers through the hair - when completely dry. This
helps retain the natural curl pattern and reduce frizz.
Bedtime.
Lightly moisturize (or apply some gel or holding product), braid or twist hair, and wrap in a silk or satin
scarf at bedtime (some people prefer to sleep on satin pillows instead). Undo the braids or twists in
the morning, gently finger comb and the frizz should be more reduced while the curls more
pronounced.
If you blow dry your hair, make sure that it is not soaking. Blot the water out with a towel first. Do not
hold the dryer too close to your head; keep it at least six inches away from your hair and move the
dryer constantly around your head. Protect the outer strands of your hair from being over-dried by
bending over and blow drying your hair with your hair hanging upside down. Also, try not to dry your
hair completely with the blow dryer. Stop while the hair is still slightly damp. It is very important to
remember that the hair is at its weakest when it is wet. So, take care not to rub your hair dry with the
use of a towel. The friction caused by rubbing the hair with a towel will make the hair brittle and
eventually break.
Air drying your hair is fine. Just blot your hair dry with a towel.
Use once a week.
Avoid shampooing hair everyday.
Naturally curly hair becomes very dry and frizzy if washed too
often. Excessive shampooing strips your hair of its natural oils,
thus causing dryness and frizz. One shampoo a week is
sufficient. Freshen hair in-between shampoos with a conditioning
rinse, moisturizer and/or hair fresher.
- Use the right shampoo for your hair.
- In general use a special frizzy hair shampoo.
- Avoid rinsing with hot water, rinse with the coolest water
temperature you can endure.
- Cool water closes the hair cuticle making hair smoother
and less frizzy.
- Take dietary supplements such as Vitamin B 6, zinc & saw palmetto. Supplements
are useful when you can't get enough from natural food sources.
- Invert your head while you shampoo & massage your scalp. This helps promote
blood circulation to the head.
- Eliminate stress or else it can be disastrous to your precious hair!
- Get enough sleep.
Hair should be rinsed once a month to remove residue from shampoo. Vinegar Hair
Rinse removes detergent and calcium residue and helps bring the natural PH balance back to
normal. Vinegar is used to remove flakes and excess oil, and it helps prevent bacteria growth,
itchy scalp, dandruff and hair loss.
The process described here does seem tedious and time-consuming. But remember, having
great hair takes time and effort. And it is definitely worth it for a picture perfect hair.
Using this type of rinse will improve your hair. Hair will be receptive to cleansing and
conditioning. It leaves hair feeling fresh and delightful by eliminating build-up on hair shafts
while restoring the proper pH level to the scalp. It can be used after or in place of conditioner.
You cannot avoid the use of conditioner if you have dry hair. You need a special conditioner for frizzy
hair. Squeeze a small amount of conditioner on your palm and spread it over your hands, then apply it to
your hair starting at your scalp. While the conditioner is still on the hair, gently comb it through using a
wide toothed comb. This will distribute the conditioner evenly, add shine to your hair and remove any
snarls; leave it to work for a minute or two.
Rinse off the conditioner, again allowing the water to run through your hair. Gently blot dry the hair with a
towel to remove the excess water.
Most of us think we have this all down pat, but for all we know, we might be wrong. After all, we have been
washing our hair all our lives. How could we go wrong with something like washing our hair? However, we
might be washing our hair the wrong way and contribute to its damage without actually knowing it.
The first thing you should do is to comb the tangles out of the hair before you wet it so the hair would
wash easily and the tangles would not worsen. For best results, you can wet your hair with warm water to
open the scale-like cuticles of the hair and wash all the oil and dirt off. And then, you can rinse your hair
with cold water afterwards to close the cuticles. Then begin to shampoo your hair. Rub your hands
together, and then apply the shampoo to your scalp.
Take note that you should put the shampoo on your scalp and not at the ends of your hair, as the
shampoo would dry your hair's ends and will cause it to weaken and split. After this, rinse the shampoo
off.

- Use a rinse-out conditioner after every shampoo.
- Use a rinse-out conditioner in between shampoos.
- Use a leave-in conditioner to moisturize hair, detangle
knots, revive and freshen curls, and top-up/re-activate hair
product already in hair.
- Comb hair with a wide tooth comb while conditioner is in.
- Curly hair benefits from regular deep conditioning
treatments.
- Very dry, damaged or colour-treated hair might need more
frequent treatments.
3.MOISTURIZER TREATMENTS
- Naturally curly hair needs to be well
moisturized.
- Use moisturizers with soluble natural
ingredients which can easily be absorbed into
the hair and nourish the scalp.
- The amount of moisture needed is dependent
on the hair texture.
- Loosely curled hair textures require less
moisturization than tightly curled textures.
